September 20, 2013 UPDATE – The City of Knoxville has completed all milling, paving, and striping work, all traffic control measures have been removed, and the entire stretch of Lyons View Pike has now been reopened to through traffic.
Lyons View Pike has been closed to through traffic since April 15, 2013, in conjunction with KUB’s multiple utility upgrade project to replace the natural gas, water, and wastewater mains in this area.
KUB’s contractor, Charles Blalock & Sons, and their subcontractor, Pipeline Construction, completed all utility installation work in early September, nearly two months ahead of schedule. All totaled, Charles Blalock & Sons and Pipeline Construction replaced 20,222 feet, or 3.83 miles, of utility pipe over a 21 week period.
KUB would like to extend its sincere appreciation to residents and businesses in the Lyons View Pike area, as well as commuters who frequently travel this busy stretch of roadway, for their patience and understanding during the past several months as we completed this challenging project.
